Hi everyone,

I'm planning to have my house painted soon and I'm trying to get an idea of costs. My home is about 2,000 sq ft, and I'm considering both interior and exterior painting. I've seen quotes ranging widely, and I'm not sure what factors make the price go up or down.

How much do professional painters usually charge per square foot or per room? Are there hidden costs I should be aware of, like prep work or materials?

Any advice on getting a fair quote would be really helpful!

Hi!

Painting costs can vary quite a bit, so it's normal to see different quotes. For a 2,000 sq ft home, interior painting usually costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, depending on factors like wall height, trim, and how much prep work is needed. Exterior painting typically ranges from $1.50 to $4 per square foot, but repairs, power washing, or scraping can add a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars.

When considering house painters cost, remember that hidden expenses can include materials, primer, furniture moving, or wall repairs. The best way to get a fair price is to get at least three detailed quotes that include labor, materials, and prep, and check references or reviews.
