Genuinely curious how bigger operations keep their warehouse running so smoothl

I visited a supplier's facility in Dubai a few weeks ago for a routine meeting and ended up spending an extra hour just watching how their warehouse floor operated because it was so different from ours in ways I couldn't immediately put my finger on. Same basic elements, shelving, crates, forklifts, staff moving around, but everything just flowed without the bottlenecks and confusion we constantly deal with back in Ajman. On the drive back I kept trying to break down what the actual difference was and I think a big part of it came down to the uniformity of their storage systems, every container was the right size for what it held, everything stacked cleanly, nothing was improvised. That visit genuinely pushed me to seek out proper insights into warehouse and packaging systems rather than continuing to assume our problems were just about staff training or floor space. I ended up going through a few local business directories and came across CrateCo Pack LLC based in Ajman which I hadn't heard of before, they seem to be focused on industrial packaging and storage which is exactly the category I've been researching. I'm still in the early stages of figuring out what changes would make the most difference for us specifically but I'm curious whether anyone else has had that kind of outside perspective moment where you visited another facility and came back seeing your own setup completely differently. Did it lead to actual changes or did the day to day just swallow up the motivation before you got anywhere with it?
